Welcome to the Lancaster City Quiz League website.
The Lancaster City Quiz League started in 1969 and currently comprises 24 teams.
They are divided into 3 divisions and play each other on a "home and away" basis. Matches are held at 8.30 each Monday night from September to May.

2026-27 Fixtures - Home Clashes
It was brought to my attention that during the forthcoming season the two Heysham Cricket Club teams had home fixtures at the club on the same nights. On investigating this, I discovered that the same also applied to the two Lancaster C & SC teams. The simplest method of resolving the situation was to swap fixtures with two other teams.
Consequently, Heysham CC A will play Halton Social Club fixtures and vice versa, and Lancaster C & SC A will play Hest Bank C fixtures and vice versa. It will mean changes of bye weeks and the dates of question setting duties for these teams.
Other than when Division 2 teams play Halton Social Club or Heysham CC A, and when Division 3 teams play Hest Bank C or Lancaster C & SC A - the remaining fixtures are unchanged. Division 1 fixtures are unaffected.
The Team Captains of the four teams affected by these swaps have been texted or emailed.
IMPORTANT NOTICE - Quiz Copying Costs:
Please Note, that from this season, individual teams will be responsible for the costs of copying their own quiz. This was passed at the 2026 AGM. In acknowledgement of which, league fees will be frozen at 25/26 levels for the 26/27 season

Before setting a quiz, all question setters are requested to read the guidelines carefully and follow them. They have been put together by experienced players and setters and are designed to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable evening. In particular, adhere to the advice about the breadth of the rounds you set and keep the subject-matter general rather than narrowly focussed.
